In November 2014, the time had come. We got a call from Captain Eglow, who was still on the Atlantic (60° N) at that time, navigating to the Antwerp harbour at full speed to supply us Europeans with all kinds of useful utensils from the Far East, such as e-cigarettes and hoverboards. When he asked us whether he could produce his new single with us on the weekend, before he enters the sea again, we quickly answered with a "yes". Because we knew, that the Captain is a rare guest on the mainland. Since all ship berths on the Rur near the studio were already occupied, the captain left his boat in Antwerp, Belgium and we picked him up there. On the way home, the captain told us the wildest sailor stories. Also, he told us of his favourite pastime on board, the listening to the sea creatures and especially to the whales. After he said that, everyone in the car had the same thought. Suddenly everyone had the sound of the new Captain Eglow song in his head. At home, we did not have to waste any time because we only had one day left to create the sound of the sea before it would pull the captain back on the water to manoeuvre a load of reclaimed e-cigarettes and hoverboards to the Far East. However, before the Captain installed his wall of synthesizers, there was a real sailor's meal. It was crunchy crispy fish fillets in a rectangular shape to strengthen us for the upcoming recording session. We experimented a night and a day with beats and synthesizers, pitched, modulated, distorted, transposed, alienated and refined sounds until all participants were satisfied with the result and the new Captain Eglow single could be pressed. If you're not on a ship coincidentally and you cannot even hold your stethoscope to the porthole, then listen to the snippet of Captain Eglow's Whale Police to hear what's going on underwater. Ahoi!
